Reconstitution Syringe

A “reconstitution syringe” is the sterile syringe used to draw the liquid diluent from its vial and inject it into the powder-filled medication vial to dissolve the medication. It’s often the first needle used in the process, typically a larger gauge than the injection needle, and is discarded immediately after use into a sharps container. The purpose of the needle is to create a solution from a powdered drug, making it ready for administration.
